HIAWATHA       PINE LODGE

After much soul-searching, our family of 10 has decided to rent out “the camp”.   Some of you may not know that regardless of size or splendor, a vacation home in the U.P. of Michigan is called a camp.  Our camp is a roughly 6000 square foot custom log home with all of the trimmings, and it is located in the heart of the Hiawatha National Forest.  It was built in 2003-2004, and has five bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and a master suite with private balcony and hot tub.  It comfortably sleeps about 20 people in beds, including a bunk-room for the kids.

Although we grew up in the U.P., we cannot be without some basic creature comforts.  A large gourmet kitchen, laundry room, satellite TV, and A/C are several necessities we can’t do without.  A beautiful 4 season screen-porch protects from foul weather and insects when necessary.  (Yes there are occasionally bugs and stormy days in the Hiawatha Forest)  Two fireplaces complete the picture.  Really an awesome place....

The “camp” rests on a very private 5 acre lot with 250 feet of sandy beach.  We have an elevated western exposure.  The sunset in the picture was one of our favorites, but every night is unique.  Our summer days seem endless.  In m id-summer, sunsets occur around 9:30 PM, making for long active days on the water.  The waves turns to glass nearly every night, and campfires and s’mores are a routine.
